Cleared Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) L3
We are seeking Information System Security Engineers (ISSEs) to join a high-performing team of experts in Cybersecurity, Cloud, and Systems Engineering. This team supports the development and sustainment of secure enclaves, providing enterprise services and cyber network defense capabilities.
About the role
As an ISSE, you will conduct security assessments, engineer secure solutions, automate defensive cyber activities, and advise leadership on risks and mitigation strategies. Candidates should bring expertise with technologies such as ePO, Splunk, ACAS, Azure Automation, STIG/SCAP, and Active Directory to secure complex mission systems and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform and review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.
- Engineer unique cybersecurity solutions to support Cyber Threat and Defensive Operations.
- Automate security monitoring, threat assessments, and reporting functions.
- Analyze system and organizational security posture trends; provide findings to the ISSM/ISSO.
- Recommend cybersecurity measures and mitigations based on evolving threats and vulnerabilities.
- Implement security controls in alignment with DoD policies and principles of confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation.
- Recommend and plan modifications based on exercise results and security testing outcomes.
- Mitigate or recommend acceptance of identified risks and deficiencies during certification and testing activities.
Requirements
- Must be within driving distance of Lorton, VA OR willing to relocate there.
- Must be willing to work onsite.
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%.
- Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance or above.
- U.S. citizenship status required.
- DoD 8570 Level III compliant certification (IAT/IAM/IASAE).
- 5–8 years of demonstrated performance in related technology areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of leadership experience, OR equivalent professional experience.
Qualifications
- Advanced skills in one or more of the following:
- Active Directory (AD DS, ADFS, AD CS, WSUS)
- ePO, Splunk, STIG/SCAP, YUM, ACAS automation
- Azure VPN Gateways, Azure Monitor/Log Analytics
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years leadership experience in cybersecurity or related technical field.
- Technical certifications in Microsoft Azure or related cloud technologies.

Pay
$140,000.00 - $180,000.00
