Cleaner (Grade 5) - Weekend Shift

About the role
A cleaner performs a variety of routine manual tasks requiring light, medium, and heavy physical effort in cleaning and caring for an assigned area in public buildings and adjacent grounds and sidewalks.
Incumbent should have a working knowledge of the properties of various cleaning substances; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to stand, stoop, bend, and stretch for long periods of time; ability to use various cleaning equipment and products; window washing experience preferred; ability to climb ladders.
Responsibilities
- Collects and empties trash and recycling in accordance with cleaning schedules; cleans and/or removes hazardous or misplaced items, waste, and spills; and disposes, transports, or places such in appropriate receptacles and locations, following proper cleaning procedures.
- Assembles cleaning carts according to assigned tasks; and prepares, mixes, and dilutes cleaning solutions following manufacturer directions.
- Washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows using mops, detergents, brushes, and other cleaning devices.
- Vacuums, strips and waxes floors, and shampoos carpets, using manual or mechanical equipment.
- Scrubs and cleans restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and drains, using hand-operated equipment and cleaning agents.
- Dusts or washes light fixtures and high places, such as ceilings, using ladders, other appropriate equipment, and tools.
- Polishes wood and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
- Monitors cleaning supplies and equipment; and notifies supervisor of supply levels, equipment malfunction, and/or maintenance issues observed during cleaning.
- Replaces, cleans, and/or hangs building fixtures and decorative items, such as curtains, blinds, and pictures.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment in connection with cleaning tasks or in preparation for meetings, events, and other activities.
Requirements
- Physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.

Schedule
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Saturday through Wednesday (days off Thursday and Friday).
Pay
Grade 5 salary: $34,312 + $4,000 location pay = $38,312 total annual compensation.
