Cleaner- 1st Shift
About the role
The Cleaner will work under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor and perform a variety of custodial duties in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Daily interior cleaning of the building, including:
- Emptying waste receptacles and removing debris/trash
- Vacuuming/shampooing floors and carpets
- Dusting and cleaning furniture
- Cleaning and restocking restrooms
- Washing walls, polishing, and mopping floors
- Placing down mats/runners in inclement weather
- Cleaning up spills, windows, and window coverings
- Exterior building and premises cleaning and basic maintenance, including:
- Exterior walls and windows
- Parking lots and structures
- Walkways, paths, gardens, and lawns
- Outdoor furnishings, pools, fountains, spas
- Curbs, gutters, exterior hallways, and stairwells
- Assist with minor maintenance and repair work, such as:
- Painting
- Replacement of light bulbs and fixtures (interior and exterior)
- Replacement of windows
- Moving furniture and equipment
- Repairing doors and gates
- Minor landscaping and related upkeep
- Simple plumbing and fixture repairs/replacements
- Other assigned duties, which may include:
- Gardening and lawn care
- Assisting with inventory control and supply ordering
- Snow removal (including salting/sanding)
- Assisting with tenant moves
- Promptly notify management of:
- Spills and emergency situations
- Need for major and minor building/facility repairs
- Lights that are out or broken
- Broken equipment and fixtures
- Damaged structures
- Ruptured pipes/plumbing
- Problems with heating/cooling and ventilation
- Any other observable safety issues/concerns
- Properly and safely use and operate related equipment, tools, devices, and chemical/cleaning agents, including:
- Mops, vacuums, and electric polishing machines
- Power tools and equipment
- Special cleaning solutions
Requirements
- Knowledge of safe use of cleaning agents and equipment
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends (on call) in case of an emergency
- Reliable, thorough, observant, organized, flexible, and courteous
- Effective listener and team player
- Ability to understand written or verbal instructions from the designated supervisor
- Some cleaning experience and basic mechanical knowledge preferred
- Practice necessary safety protocols and procedures
- Follow through and carry out work orders
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, Trade, Technical, or Vocational school
- Some related experience
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.
Physical Demands
- Travel from floor to floor, climb stairs, and travel outside between buildings in varying outdoor weather conditions
- Remain in a stationary position (sit or stand) for 85% of the time
- Regularly use hands to operate office machinery
- Regularly required to walk, talk, and hear
- Travel up to 5% of the time (frequency and duration may vary)
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds occasionally, frequently, or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects

Pay
The compensation for this position is $14.45 - $17.00 per hour, depending on factors such as geographic location, date of hire, total hours worked, job type, business line, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
Schedule
This is a 1st shift position. Willingness to work evenings or weekends (on call) in case of an emergency is required.
