Cleaner- 1st Shift

Under the supervision of the Custodial Manager or Supervisor, perform a variety of custodial duties in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and wash floors and other surfaces inside buildings.
• Use light and heavy (commercial type) floor buffers and shampoo machines, including attachments.
• Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas; spot clean daily and shampoo when directed.
• Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and all other horizontal surfaces, including periodic high dusting.
• Wash windowsills, glass in interior doors, partitions, and specified windows.
• Wash glass and trim at entrance doors, interior/exterior; spot clean interior walls as appropriate daily.
• Clean bathrooms and restock paper supplies daily, including damp wiping glass surfaces, emptying waste baskets, servicing soap and toilet paper dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves, stall partitions, sweeping/mopping/scrubbing floors.
• Monitor and report possible defects such as clogged urinals and lights out to supervisors.
• Collect building trash daily, place it in approved containers, and move to designated collection areas for removal.
• Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers per specifications.
• Sweep or shovel snow from steps and walkways at building entrances and connecting sidewalks as directed.
• Perform periodic work: high dusting, leather and wood surface polishing, wall washing.
• Complete any and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• No previous experience required for basic cleaning responsibilities.
• Ability to take direction, work with minimal supervision, and function cooperatively as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using cleaning tools and equipment, including a portable backpack-style vacuum cleaner.
• Attention to detail, pride in delivering excellent service, organization, and high levels of energy and endurance.

Pay

$13.18 - $15.50 per hour. Compensation may vary based on geographic location, date of hire, total hours worked, job type, business line, and applicability of collective bargaining agreements. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
