General Statement of Duties

The Classroom Associate will be responsible for assisting in the classroom to contribute to student growth. This position will use evidence-based behavioral intervention practices to maintain an environment conducive to learning for all students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributing to Student Growth
    • Internalize goals and specially designed instruction from IEP or general education support plan
    • Aid in working with individual students or small groups of students when needed for academic or social-emotional related content
    • Collaborate with classroom teacher to deliver instructional support throughout all instructional blocks
    • Actively monitor and encourage students throughout all instructional blocks
    • Seek teacher assistance to adapt materials when necessary
  • Evidence-Based Behavioral Intervention Practices
    • Provide guided meaningful practice of behavioral and academic skills
    • Participate in team-based meetings related to student classroom performance—both academic and functional performance—and make informed suggestions as needed
    • Consistently reinforce classroom and building expectations in all school settings
    • Aid in collection of data for providing appropriate classroom interventions
    • Document and work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to review behavior management techniques that have been utilized and the success or failure of those techniques
    • Respond to crisis situations alongside colleagues
  • Professionalism
    • Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities
    • Communicate with families to discuss their children’s progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized education needs
    • Adhere to other requests as indicated by supervisor

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years’ working in a school
  • Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances Required
  • Driver’s license required

Pay Range

$35,000 - $45,000 per year
