Role Overview
The "Walk to Read" Literacy Aide supports structured, school-wide reading interventions for students in grades K–6. This role is crucial in helping students build foundational literacy skills, close achievement gaps, and develop lifelong reading confidence. Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Support: Deliver high-quality, structured literacy interventions to small groups of students.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with classroom teachers and reading specialists to monitor student progress and implement targeted reading strategies.
- Data & Progress Tracking: Assist in tracking student growth and adapting instructional support to meet individual learning needs.
- Engagement: Foster a positive, encouraging, and supportive learning environment that builds student confidence.
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience working with children in an educational, tutoring, or childcare setting.
- Key Skills: A strong collaborative spirit, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and students.
- Knowledge Base: Familiarity with the Science of Reading principles is highly preferred.
Pay
- Lane 1 Step 1 ($17.88/Hour) – Not Highly Qualified
- Lane 2 Step 1 ($18.88/Hour) – Associate's degree or 48 semester hours from an accredited college/university
- Lane 3 Step 1 ($19.94/Hour) – Current/Former Licensed Teacher (Highly Qualified Information)
