  • Walk to Read Aide: Focuses on literacy support and reading intervention.
  • Playground Aide & Copy Aide: Combines student supervision with instructional and clerical support.

Position Requirements & Qualifications

General Grade-Level Aides (Grades 2–6)

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate instructional practices.
  • Understanding of elementary reading, writing, mathematics, and classroom management.
  • Familiarity with student safety, confidentiality, and diverse learning needs.

Skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support individual and small-group instruction.
  • Strong organizational, teamwork, and basic technology skills.

Abilities

  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to follow teacher direction, adapt to classroom needs, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to supervise students and perform light physical duties associated with the position.

Walk to Read Aide

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of elementary literacy skills and age-appropriate reading strategies.
  • Understanding of small-group instruction and reading intervention practices.
  • Knowledge of student learning needs and positive behavior supports.

Skills

  • Ability to support reading instruction through one-on-one and small-group activities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.

Abilities

  • Ability to encourage student confidence and engagement in reading.
  • Ability to follow instructional plans and adapt support to student needs.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment.

Playground Aide and Copy Aide

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of playground safety rules, student supervision practices, and school procedures.
  • Basic understanding of child behavior and positive behavior support.
  • Knowledge of office equipment, including copiers and basic computer applications.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to monitor students, resolve minor conflicts, and maintain a safe environment.
  • Skill in operating office equipment and organizing instructional materials.

Abilities

  • Ability to supervise students effectively while promoting safe and respectful behavior.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and support multiple staff members.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift classroom materials, and work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Pay

  • Effective July 1, 2026
  • Lane 1 Step 1 ($17.88/Hour) – Not Highly Qualified
  • Lane 2 Step 1 ($18.88/Hour) – Associate's degree or 48 semester hours from an accredited college/university
  • Lane 3 Step 1 ($19.94/Hour) – Current/Former Licensed Teacher (Highly Qualified Information)
