Responsibilities

The job hours for this position are 9:15 AM to 5:45 PM, Monday through Friday on scheduled class days.

For the Classroom Assistant position, under general supervision, and on a full-time basis, facilitates substitute lesson plans for a class as needed in any of the following disciplines: English, Math, History, Science, Languages (Chinese, French and/or Spanish), Fine Arts, and Physical Education.

  • Provides classroom instruction and management based on teacher’s lesson plans
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

For the After School Supervisor and other duties, under minimal supervision, supervises middle school students after school hours.

  • Oversees the check-in/check-out process for students after school hours
  • Supervises 6th– 8th graders in a structured setting from 3:00-5:30 Monday through Friday
  • Communicates with the Middle School Director or Middle School Dean of Students regarding student concerns
  • Monitors student safety for all students on campus, grades 6-8
  • Reacts responsibly and rationally in case of emergency
  • Addresses behavior and health related issues that occur
  • Completes accident, injury and behavior reports when necessary
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, faculty, staff, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • Experience working with adolescents preferred
  • First Aid/ CPR certification required (if not certified, training will be provided)

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the students and program
  • Mature, responsible and upbeat, with proven ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows or Mac environment using Office, master common automated systems for record keeping, and learn new technology
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents

Pay

Salary Range: $41,000 - $48,000/year

Payment Flexibility: Choose how you get paid. You can elect to distribute your compensation over 10 months or spread it evenly over 12 months to best fit your personal budgeting needs.

Schedule

Full-time, 10-month academic year position

Time Off: Enjoy all school breaks and holidays, summers off, and accrual of sick leave and general leave
