About the role
LHDC Head Start Birth-5 is seeking a part-time Classroom Aide to provide flexible support throughout the center. This position plays a vital role in ensuring consistent classroom coverage and maintaining a positive, engaging environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support throughout the Head Start Birth-5 Center as needed
- Assist teachers in classrooms serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years
- Support children during indoor and outdoor play activities
- Auxiliary support with food service or custodial duties as assigned
- Communicate positively and professionally with children and families
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Follow Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and LHDC policies and procedures
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Experience with infants, toddlers, and/or preschool children preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff
- Credential Requirements: Obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within one year of hire. LHDC may provide on-the-job training to assist with credential attainment
Requirements
- Must meet all Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations
- Compliance with Head Start Standards of Conduct
- Successful completion of:
- Federal and state criminal history background checks
- Sex offender registry checks
- Drug screening
- Physical examination and annual TB testing
Schedule
Part-time position: 28 hours per week. Schedule varies by classroom or center needs.
