Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • To assist the teacher in providing the care, welfare, and safety of the students.
  • To assist in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.
  • To train and monitor students in school-based job placements.
  • To provide weekly progress updates to the TSW program supervisor.
  • To drive and supervise students during field trips and CBI events.
  • To support the implementation of modifications per individual student plans.
  • To assist with learning activities within the general education and/or special education classroom.
  • To monitor classroom assignments given by the teacher.
  • To maintain confidential classroom student files and records.
  • To assist with the implementation of instruction modifications per the Individualized Education Plan.
  • To communicate with teachers and parents regarding the students' needs and progress.
  • To prepare materials for classroom use.
  • To maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues.
  • To provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community.
  • To perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
  • To maintain punctual and regular attendance.
  • To perform other related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

    • To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
    • To possess a positive attitude toward students, teachers, staff and parents/guardians.
    • To possess the ability to take and follow directions.
    • To be proficient in the use of the English language, both verbal and written.
    • To possess a warmth and understanding for special needs students.
    • To possess basic computing and clerical skills.

    • To be able to push, pull or lift weights up to 50 pounds.
