Responsibilities

  • Perform general food service, food preparation, and food service sanitation according to Arizona State health code regulations
  • Provide adequately prepared meals to meet the dietary needs of students and faculty
  • Operate cash register with accountability for reimbursable meals and à la carte items
  • Assist in the preparation of food and prepare meals from standardized recipes, including cold and cooked salads, gelatins, salad dressings, beverages, and basic cooking (e.g., hamburgers, chicken patties)
  • Set up and replenish serving lines
  • Serve students and faculty in a friendly manner
  • Maintain the trash collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • Wash equipment, pots, pans, and serving utensils
  • Operate various kitchen machines (mixers, blenders, ovens, slicers, etc.)
  • Remove used dishes and assist in cleaning counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area
  • Perform duties for special meal occasions and catering as needed
  • Comply with safety rules, National School Lunch Program regulations, and OSHA requirements
  • Count and prepare monies and necessary paperwork for daily deposit
  • Order food service supplies as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents, and school issues
  • Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents, and the community
  • Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must obtain County Certification for food handler within thirty days of employment (renewed every 3 years)
  • Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire
  • Mathematical ability to work with monies and operate cash register and related business machines
  • Friendly and respectful communication skills with students and staff
  • Ability to read and write simple instructions
  • General knowledge in the use of office machines and computers

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry materials and packages weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Bend or twist the body
  • Push, pull, or otherwise move boxes and materials

Working Conditions

  • Able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize functions to meet constantly changing job conditions
  • Must comply with safety rules and regulations and OSHA requirements
  • May be subject to odors, dust, poor ventilation, heat, workspace restrictions, and loud noises
