Classical Guitar Teacher
About the role
Opus 1 Music Studio is a top-rated music school with over 1,400 weekly students located in Palo Alto and Mountain View, California. This position involves teaching classical guitar on-site at the school, with the option for part-time arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Teach classical guitar lessons to students
- Manage personal teaching schedules through the school’s app/website
- Adhere to strict attendance policies
- Design personalized lesson plans for each student
- Prepare students for performances and exams
- Communicate with students and parents about lesson plans and progress
- Work with professional full-time staff for administrative tasks
Requirements
- Current legal status to work in the United States (Opus 1 provides visa sponsorship opportunities)
- Bachelor's degree in music (MM/MA/DM/PhD preferred)
- Experience teaching and performing
- Exceptional communication skills with both students and parents
- Willingness to work with parents and students to design lesson plans
- Ability to learn and adapt to new teaching environments
- Knowledge of ABRSM Practical and Theory Exams or willingness to learn
- Experience managing teaching schedules and adhering to strict attendance policies
Qualifications
- Live in the Bay Area with consistent and reliable transportation to arrive in Mountain View/Palo Alto on time for lessons
- Ability to work 6 consecutive teaching hours per day (plus breaks) with a minimum of 3 days/week (full-time, 5 days/week preferably)
Skills

Pay
$45 - $60 per hour
Schedule
Available hours are dependent on demand and range between Sunday-Saturday, mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Preference is given to those available within open and in-demand hours. Ideal candidates will be able to work 6 consecutive teaching hours per day (plus breaks) with a minimum of 3 days/week (full-time, 5 days/week preferably).
