Class B Fitter / Welder
About the Role
Fit-up and weld carbon steel and stainless steel assemblies in accordance with established Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and work instructions to achieve specified weld quality that meets criteria of post weld testing requirements. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and supplies in safe working order. Must be able to function effectively in a team-based environment, maintain a clean work area, and maintain HSE compliance standards including proper utilization of all required PPE and adherence to related safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding using processes such as GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and supplies in safe working order.
- Set up, layout, and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and joint configurations.
- Ensure compliance with welding codes (API, B31.3, UW51, UW52, B1.1, STS, etc.).
- Use positioners, pinwheels, and measuring equipment effectively.
- Rig and operate equipment to move heavy loads.
- Perform duties with minimal supervision in a shop environment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area while adhering to safety procedures.
Requirements
- Specialized welding training and/or 5+ years of related welding experience with demonstrated advanced skill proficiency, or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and skill.
- Proficiency in at least 3 of the following welding processes: GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW.
- Must pass a 3G plate test in Mig/Fluxcore (3/4" thick plate).
- Must pass a 1GR all Tig pipe test (2" schedule 80 pipe).
- Must pass a written fitter test.
- Experience with blueprint reading, weld symbols, joint configuration, and mismatch tolerances.
- Demonstrated ability to produce code-quality welds.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to use various measuring equipment.
- Verifiable experience as a skilled fitter.
- Experience in the petrochemical industry preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to go up and down stairs, perform unaccompanied travel, and communicate effectively.
- Physical stamina to stand 8 or more hours per day and operate welding equipment.
- Ability to rig and operate equipment to move heavy loads.
- Capability to lift and maneuver up to 70 lbs unassisted.
- Position requires standing or walking for the entire workday, with frequent stooping and kneeling.
- Sufficient visual acuity and depth perception to accomplish job tasks.
- Manual dexterity for reaching, handling, fingering, and touching materials and equipment.
- Ability to tolerate shop environment and exposures associated with welding and industrial equipment manufacturing.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must not present a risk of injury to self or others while performing job duties.
Pay
$25 - $35 an hour
Signing bonuses available: $3,000 for Class B/C.
