Class B CDL Local Driver

About the role

Full-time position with starting pay of $28.00 per hour; overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours. Local daytime work in a professional, positive, and people-centered environment. Stable and growing organization offering opportunity for Class A CDL advancement.

Responsibilities

• Transport, load, and unload freight between Service Centers and customers in a productive, safe, and claims-free manner
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on tractor and trailer
• Document all freight control processes and maintain cleanliness of company vehicle
• Read maps, road signs, shipping papers, hazardous materials markings, and labeling identifications
• Affix correct placards to tractor/trailer when necessary
• Assist customers in preparation of shipping papers
• Interact with external and internal customers
• Safely operate a forklift to load/unload products when required
• Participate in training and improvement programs
• Be available for irregular work schedules, alternating shifts, and/or assignments
• Adhere to operational procedures and guidelines in the Driver/Dockworker Manual

Qualifications

• At least 23 years of age
• At least 18 months of commercial driving experience
• Valid Class B CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tank Endorsement
• Valid DOT Physical/Medical Card
• No DUI or citation/conviction for reckless operation in the past 3 years
• Fewer than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
• Basic math skills and fluent in English
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Ability to pass a drug screen

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle and perform physical tasks associated with driving, equipment inspections, and local pick-up and delivery operations. Duties may include standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, ascending and descending from the vehicle, and handling freight and delivery equipment, with occasional manual handling of materials and use of powered tools or devices.
