Class A Travel Truck Driver Hourly

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Nashville, TN—offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about.

Pay

• Hourly Pay: $29.00 per hour
• Hours Per Week: 40+ hours
• Earn extra $1/hour for every 3 endorsements/certifications
• Per Diem Pay: $50 per night for overnights on route (Ryder booked hotel or sleeper)
• Tenure Bonus: $1,000 each year
• Weekly pay of $2,000 or more

Schedule

• Monday – Friday (must be flexible)

Route & Equipment

• Deliver solo to: IN, OH, MI, TN & KY
• Route: Regional
• Tractor Type: Day cabs and sleepers (possibility of 26' straight truck)
• Trailer Type: 48' - 53' flatbeds, dry vans, reefers, Conestogas, curtainsides, and container
• Equipment: Pallet jack, lift gate, rollers, or Moffett (Ryder will train on all equipment needed)
• Freight: Mix of touch and no-touch
• Trucks: Well-maintained, safe, 36 months or newer with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide locations

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position (Hazmat, Tanker & Doubles/Triples required)
• Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
  • 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
  • 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
  • 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• 1 year of flatbed experience with strapping, chaining, and tarping
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
• Performs other duties as assigned
