Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM start time (depending on route)

Sign-on bonus: $5,000 dependent on experience

About the Role

As a Shuttle Driver, you will play a vital role in the operation of our business by transporting empty trailers to the Operating Company warehouse locations and delivering full trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations. You will drive a tandem trailer, tractor trailer, and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. You will function as a team member within the department and perform any assigned duties to best serve the company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; ensure equipment meets company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Report all safety issues and/or required repairs.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies; immediately report all safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
  • Ensure all required route paperwork is with the tractor trailer load and available to the driver upon dispatch.
  • Drive and deliver trailers according to the predetermined route schedule.
  • Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
  • Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas.
  • Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times.
  • Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in the empty trailer to bring back to the base facility; complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL-A with doubles endorsement.
  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card and/or be able to secure a new one.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize a two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout the shift (product generally ranges from 10-35 pounds and up to 60-90 pounds, depending on location).
