Pay

$0.74 per mile, increased to $0.78 per mile after one year. Earn up to $1,000 annually in Quarterly Safety Incentive bonuses ($250 per quarter based on eligibility).

Schedule

Monday - Friday, overnight shift.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a commercial vehicle safely while transporting freight between terminals.
  • Load and unload trailer, either individually or with assistance of dockworkers; use mechanized freight handling equipment where available.
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight up to 100 pounds.
  • Secure freight through strapping or other methods.
  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
  • Comply with all Federal requirements regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Drive tractor-trailer in all conditions in accordance with Federal regulations, including hours-of-service limitations.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver's logs.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 23.
  • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
  • Must pass a road test administered by a Dohrn Transfer Driver Trainer.
  • Must possess, or obtain within the required time period, and maintain Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements on a valid CDL issued by the resident state.
  • Only one valid CDL issued by the resident state; operators who have recently transferred must provide a copy of the former license or license information for verification.
  • Provide information on all licenses held within the previous 36 months.
  • No record of DUI/OWI or Reckless Driving within the previous 5 years.
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and functional screen.
  • Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
  • Must provide a negative controlled substances and alcohol result from prior employer(s) for the past three-year period; no prior evidence of controlled substance use or refusal to submit to testing.
  • Must consent to a 10-year check on work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be listed and explained.
  • Ability to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Gripping of various sizes and weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Lifting up to 100 pounds from ground level to 45"; lifting at waist level (36") or front carry up to 100 pounds for 250 feet.
  • Push/pull up to 60 pounds of horizontal force.
  • Sitting up to 10 hours per day; standing and walking frequently.
  • Climbing, squatting, crouching, balancing, or kneeling occasionally; crawling rarely.
  • Reaching frequently while shifting gears, moving freight, loading/unloading trailers, turning the steering wheel, and closing rear trailer doors.
  • Grasping and handling frequently while loading/unloading freight, opening/closing trailer doors, turning the steering wheel, and operating trailer jacks.
  • Critical to speak with coworkers and customers for essential job functions.
  • Vision used constantly for driving, reading maps, and inspecting the truck.
  • Smell used occasionally to check for leaks.
  • Hearing used frequently to detect unusual sounds or warning signals.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, wetness, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.
