Primary Responsibilities
- Drives a tractor trailer on intrastate and interstate routes in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicates and interacts with vendors and coworkers professionally, answering questions accurately and promptly.
- Performs all required safety checks (pre/post trip) on the tractor/truck and trailer, including inspections and taking appropriate action as needed.
- Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required immediately.
- Follows DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
- Completes required paperwork associated with freight, such as loading and unloading logs.
- Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailers as needed.
- Loads customer returns onto trailers and secures trailer doors.
- Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.
- Documents damaged goods and customer returns and brings them to the driver check-in for completion of necessary paperwork.
- Unloads all equipment, materials, and removes trash from trailers as required.
- Documents and completes daily records of hours of service in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Performs general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keeps trailers clear and clean throughout the shift.
- Secures all equipment and completes necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 6+ months commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL-A license.
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test.
- Able to obtain or have a valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure a new one.
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout the shift.
