Responsibilities

• Drive a tractor‑trailer safely while picking up and delivering general freight.
• Drive a tractor‑trailer safely while transporting freight between terminals.
• Load and unload trailers, either individually or with assistance of dockworkers.
• Use mechanic freight handling equipment where available and appropriate.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight.
• Secure freight through strapping or other methods as required.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
• Comply with all Federal requirements regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.
• Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver's logs.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.
• Physical demands: gripping, lifting up to 100 lb, front carry up to 100 lb for 250 ft, push/pull up to 60 lb, sitting up to 10 hours/day, standing/walking frequently, occasional climbing/squatting/crouching/balancing/kneeling, rare crawling, frequent reaching, frequent grasping/handling, constant vision use, occasional smell use for leaks, frequent hearing for unusual sounds, exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, wetness, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 23.
• At least 1 year of verifiable tractor‑trailer experience.
• Pass a road test administered by a Dohrn Transfer Driver Trainer.
• Possess or obtain Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements on a valid CDL from the resident state; maintain only one valid CDL.
• If recently transferred from another state, provide former license or verification.
• Provide information on all licenses held in the previous 36 months.
• No DUI/OWI or reckless driving citations/convictions in the past 5 years.
• Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Pass a DOT physical examination and functional screen.
• Consent to and pass a pre‑employment drug screen (negative result).
• Provide negative controlled substances and alcohol results from prior employer(s) for the past three‑year period; no prior evidence of controlled substance use.
• No refusal to submit to alcohol or controlled substance tests in the past three‑year period.
• Consent to a 10‑year work‑history check; explain any gaps of 30 days or more.
• Ability to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
