Class A CDL Truck Driver

Our experienced sales staff and nutritionists work with producers to design feeding programs tailored to their management practices, performance objectives, and formulation requirements.

About the Role

Livestock Nutrition Center is seeking a qualified Class A CDL driver to operate heavy trucks, trailers, bobtail feed trucks, and pickups with trailers. This position delivers bulk feed, bagged feed, and feed supplements to customers within a 200-mile radius, ensuring drivers return home every night. As the "face" of LNC, the driver plays a key role in maintaining customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Safely deliver livestock feed products to customers and collect payment for goods and delivery charges as needed.
• Place delivered feed in the location directed by the customer, ensuring safety for all parties.
• Transport finished goods and raw materials between manufacturing plants, retail, and distribution centers.
• Maintain communication with supervisors for delivery instructions and updates.
• Display professionalism and courtesy to customers, coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical and safety issues, including preventative maintenance checks (tires, lights, brakes, fluids).
• Maintain accurate driver and truck logs in compliance with state and federal regulations, including work/rest periods and miles driven.
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules while complying with truck driving rules and company policies.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions safely.
• Report defects, accidents, or violations promptly.
• Adhere to all safety requirements, policies, and procedures outlined in the employee manual and safety meetings.
• Operate hydraulic systems on trailers and perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Ensure reliable, on-time attendance as required for team operations.

Requirements

• Current and valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating tractor/trailer equipment (preferred).
• Physically qualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), with the ability to climb ladders, check customer bins, and lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to safely operate the type of CMV intended for use.
• Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (e.g., electronic logs, GPS).
• Extensive knowledge of truck driving rules and regulations.
• Adaptability to handle unexpected situations (e.g., traffic, weather conditions).
• Must be at least 21 years old and able to read and speak English.
• No recent moving or driving violations; no disqualification to drive a CMV.
• No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years or 2 in the last 12 months.
• No more than 1 preventable accident involving bodily injury, fatality, or disabling vehicle damage in the last 3 years.
• No convictions for criminal offenses involving a commercial vehicle.
• Willingness to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment references.
