Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A CDL vehicle to transport grain or other agricultural products and materials from various locations to designated destinations.
- Ensure safe and efficient loading, transportation, and unloading of products and materials.
- Follow all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel usage.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, and promptly report any maintenance or repair needs to the Trucking Manager.
- Facilitates routine service on trucks, including checking oil, water, gasoline, and air.
- Responsible for cleaning the inside of trailers and opening and closing traps on the trailers.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and compliance.
- Build strong relationships with farmers, customers, and team members through excellent communication and professionalism.
- Provide exceptional customer service, always ensuring customer satisfaction.
- When not driving, this position will also assist in the warehouse and grain elevator.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL in good standing with no serious violations, tickets, or accidents in the last five years and no DWI/DUI in the last ten years.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Class A CDL Driver preferred
- Doubles/Triples Endorsement is required, a tanker endorsement is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with all local, state, and federal regulations governing transportation.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with farmers, customers, and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working at heights in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Commitment to safety and ability to follow safety guidelines and protocols.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, during peak harvest seasons.
Physical Requirements
- Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift with or without assistance.
- Frequent walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
- Standing/working on feet for extended periods and walking across uneven terrain, climbing up and down ladders and stairways
- Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, etc.
- Frequent exposure to noise and dust
- Able to wear personal protective equipment and any other safety-related equipment.
- Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day and overtime as required.
