About the role

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition. They also serve as the face of our company, building lasting relationships with customers. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, delivering and unloading food and food-related products in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform all required safety checks (e.g., pre/post-trip inspections) according to DOT regulations and company safety standards.
  • Report all safety issues, hazards, or required repairs immediately.
  • Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
  • Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly, including logs for hours of service.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined routes and schedules.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisors about removing orders as needed.
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures; collect payments where required.
  • Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
  • Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL-A.
  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Attain or maintain a valid current DOT Health Card.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and stack product cases/freight weighing between 10-90 pounds throughout the shift.
