Class A CDL Delivery Driver Trainee
Driver Trainee – $65,000+ 1st year. Trained drivers average $75,000/year. $7,500 hiring bonus with valid CDL A (terms apply; prior PFG employees ineligible).
About the role
This is an entry-level driver training role responsible for learning to drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road, shuttle, and/or overnight routes to deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers. All routes are completed safely in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations. The role involves professional interaction with customers, vendors, and coworkers, and performing duties as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Attend and successfully complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock-to-Driver Training Program.
- Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries as required; follow all instructions and directions provided.
- Perform all required safety checks (pre/post-trip inspections) of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations and company safety standards; report safety issues or needed repairs.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; immediately report safety hazards.
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders per company policy.
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked/secured at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
- Unload equipment and materials; remove trash from trailers as required.
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log per federal, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and trailers; secure all equipment and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 0–6 months commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL A.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post-offer drug test and road test.
- Attain or maintain a valid current DOT Health Card.
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment (e.g., two-wheeler, lift gate) to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (generally 60–90 pounds) throughout shift.

Pay

Schedule
Monday–Friday, early morning start. Local routes; no nights, no weekends.
