About the role
Food and food-service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our CDL-A Drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes, delivering and unloading food and food-related products to customers safely and on time in accordance with DOT regulations. Drivers are the face of our company, building lasting customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to answer questions accurately and promptly.
- Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections of tractor, trailer, and freight according to DOT regulations and company standards; report any safety issues or needed repairs.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving policies; report hazards immediately.
- Verify trailer loads: count items, check invoices, and secure freight.
- Complete all required paperwork legibly and accurately (logs, delivery receipts, damage reports, returns, etc.).
- Drive to customer locations and deliver orders on schedule; unload products into designated storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks, scan items, and follow company policy for removing damaged orders.
- Obtain customer signatures and collect payments (cash/checks) where required.
- Load customer returns onto trailer, secure trailer doors, and ensure all equipment is locked/secured.
- Unload damaged goods and returns at driver check-in; complete necessary paperwork.
- Remove trash and equipment from trailers; maintain cleanliness of tractor, trailer, and loading dock.
- Record hours of service in compliance with federal, state, and company requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL-A license.
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
- Current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one.
- Able to hand-lift and use equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move and stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–90 pounds throughout the shift.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, early morning start. Local routes; no nights, no weekends.
Pay
$75,000/year average, with potential to earn over $75,000 in the first year.
