Claims Senior Specialist

Responsibilities

• Directly handle, manage, and/or oversee commercial and financial lines claims, including Public and Private D&O, Financial Institutions E&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and Crime/Fidelity.
• Manage claims in accordance with Claim Handling Best Practices through all phases: initial contact, investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving, resolution, and documentation.
• Provide top-notch customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers and business partners.
• Review and evaluate policies to determine coverage; resolve coverage-related matters, collaborating with outside counsel as needed.
• Complete written reports and present claims to management, underwriting, actuary, and reinsurers on claim developments.
• Adhere to all statutory regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts.
• Consistently communicate claim developments, exposure analyses, and requests for authority to claims management.
• Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, and see claims through to resolution.
• Work closely with underwriting and other business partners to review, analyze, and communicate claim trends and help develop policy language.
• Attend current and prospective meetings with insureds and brokers alongside underwriting.
• Work with and manage outside vendors, including outside attorneys, to manage budgets and oversee litigation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 to 10 years’ experience at a specialty insurance carrier and/or law firm.
• Significant experience with public/private D&O, E&O, or EPL claims.
• Experience with program claims and working with MGU and MGA platforms in a claim capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school required.
• Must obtain and maintain insurance adjuster licenses.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytic, investigative, listening, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and work effectively in a team environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel or equivalent software.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
