About the Role
MG+M The Law Firm (MG+M) is seeking an experienced mid-to-senior level attorney to join our Professional Consulting Practice Group. MG+M is a nationally renowned litigation law firm concentrating on complex civil matters, with expertise in toxic tort, complex product liability, professional practices, local government, general liability, construction, and commercial litigation. The Consulting Group provides risk management, claims monitoring services, and strategic advice to architects, engineers, and their professional liability insurers, focusing on large complex infrastructure projects across the United States and Canada.
The Consulting Group is at the forefront of emerging issues facing design professionals, including the use of AI, alternative construction delivery models such as Progressive Design Build, and project-specific risk and insurance frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized risk management and claims avoidance mitigation advice and recommendations.
- Conduct contract reviews and seminars.
- Investigate, evaluate, and monitor the defense of complex professional liability claims.
- Serve as a liaison to underwriters and senior claim adjusters.
- Provide strategic input and evaluation of defense strategies, including independent exposure evaluation.
- Develop and manage resolution strategies for claims.
- Interface with clients, insurers, and other project participants.
- Negotiate resolution of claims.
- Evaluate, manage, and provide strategic direction, advice, and counsel on significant complex construction disputes and litigation matters.
- Engage in risk management of high-value claims arising on large, complex projects.
- Engage and manage local counsel on a substantive basis.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and industry experts to prosecute, defend, and resolve complex disputes between sophisticated parties.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Must be admitted to practice in any of the 50 United States.
- Experience in one or more of the following practice areas: complex civil litigation (preferably in the construction arena), claims management, interaction with insurers, or involvement in the design or construction industry.
- Interest in construction projects.
- Capable of independent work.
- Strong organizational and efficiency skills.
- Superior research and writing skills.
- Ability to multi-task and analyze complex matters.
