As a Commercial E & O Claims Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team that handles complex insurance claims and litigation management duties within AXA XL's Commercial E&O Professional division, with a primary focus on Miscellaneous, Media, and Public Entity Liability Claims. Our professional liability claims handlers are tasked with managing and resolving claims proactively in order to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing colleagues and processes related to liability, damages, coverage, exposure evaluation, reserving, and resolution of Primary Duty to Defend and Excess Professional Liability claims in accordance with established Claim Department guidelines, service standards, and state regulations.
- Identifying strategic and tactical needs that can be solved through technology, process improvements, or training.
- Maintaining close supervision of vendor management and expense control within the unit.
- Providing superior customer service to policyholders and brokers and ensuring the same high customer service standards are upheld by all colleagues.
- Managing audits and ensuring FIC compliance across the team.
- Drive analytics and data development for Underwriting and Actuarial through identification and reporting on claim trends.
- Collaborating with Underwriting teams in connection with claim issues and trends, policy wording, and marketing and business development activities.
- Managing each team member's performance, development, and success.
You will report to the Head of Commercial E&O Claims.
Qualifications
- Technical background in Primary and Excess Commercial E&O claims, with preferred advanced experience handling and/or supervising Public Entity, Media, and Miscellaneous Professional Liability claims.
- Demonstrated experience in written and verbal coverage position communications with insureds and brokers.
- Proven ability to negotiate and settle complex claims files.
- Strong analytical skills and sound judgment.
- Takes initiative and has the ability to work independently.
- High dedication to customer service, including professionalism and diplomacy in broker and insured relations.
- Management skills: Demonstrated experience in managing claims handlers. Proven ability to develop employee talent, manage performance, and maintain engagement.
- Strong communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and interact internally and externally with senior management and business partners. This includes building and refining effective working relationships with insured, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, co-insurers, excess and reinsurers as well as external vendors including legal counsel.
- Ethical approach: Have an impeccable reputation for ethics, integrity, and the highest standards of professionalism.
- Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Juris Doctor (J.D.) is preferred but not required.
Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD $139,300-$219,300. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location. We strive for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' pay.
