Responsibilities

  • Assisting our Customer Service Centers (CSC’s) and the claims TPA with the Company’s light duty and return to work (RTW) programs to ensure our injured employees receive the best attention and are assisted in their transition back to their roles.
  • Identifying light duty/transitional duty assignments that will allow an employee’s early return to work.
  • Aid in ensuring the medical validity of work restrictions and job accommodations requested by our employee or health care provider.
  • Work closely with our field locations, our Third Party Administrator, the employee and their treating physician to coordinate return to work within the restrictions assigned.
  • Hold ownership for the injured employee’s progression from “light duty” to full duty return to work. This includes clarifying status and progression with treatment providers and ensuring that field offices are aware of updated restrictions and anticipated full duty return to work.
  • Assisting our Customer Service Centers (CSC’s) and the claims TPA with resolving third party liability claims.
  • Assisting with general insurance inquiries, insurance renewals, and liaising with Summit’s insurance broker and other advisors.
  • Administrative support for the Risk and Insurance Department, inclusive of; Processing mail and invoice payments, Customer service support as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (2-5) years relevant experience, ideally in a workers compensation claims management or risk management environment.
  • Knowledge of insurance, claims, litigation handling and terminology preferred.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and software applications (such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines and coordinate flow of materials and correspondence in the department.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dependable, attention to details and ability to follow/interpret procedures.
  • Desired Degree related to Occupational Health Care, Loss Control Management or Risk Management.
