About the role

We are expanding our Claims organization and seeking a Claims Examiner to join our team. This full-time role is based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, with consideration for candidates in Montreal, Quebec, or Mississauga, Ontario. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Claims.

Responsibilities

• Apply established claims examination principles and procedures to assess liability for credit-insured losses within defined authority levels.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, systems, and quality standards.
• Accurately assess and calculate indemnity payments in accordance with policy terms and coverage provisions.
• Communicate effectively with customers, brokers, buyers, agents, and internal colleagues to support timely claim resolution.
• Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries and information requests from internal stakeholders.
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute as both an independent performer and a collaborative team member to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
• Manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and service excellence.
• Perform general administrative and clerical duties that support the efficient operation of the Claims team.
• Contribute to the development of claims policies and procedures through interaction with an international claims community.
• Monitor and settle recoveries and recovery costs, liaising with legal resources when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
• Previous insurance or claims handling experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite.
• Effective written and oral communication skills with a detail-oriented approach.
• For Montreal or Mississauga offices: current AMF adjuster license.
• For Montreal or Mississauga locations: fully bilingual (French and English) with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.

• Competitive Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 annually, dependent on experience, with a 10% bonus potential.
