We are seeking a talented individual to join the Transactional Risk claims team at Marsh. This role is based in New York and is a hybrid position, requiring in-office work at least three days per week.

About the role

The Claims Advocate will work closely with the team’s claims professionals, as well as colleagues across brokerage, placement, and client advisory functions. This role offers the opportunity to gain meaningful exposure to the transactional risk insurance market and the evaluation, management, and resolution of complex representations and warranties, tax, and contingent risk insurance claims. The position is well-suited for someone interested in the intersection of law, insurance, M&A, and claims strategy and who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review insurance policies, acquisition agreements, claim notices, diligence materials, and related documents in connection with new and existing claims.
  • Assist with intake, triage, and tracking of new claims and claim-related developments.
  • Maintain complete and accurate claim files, notes, and internal data records.
  • Analyze claims-related information and prepare reports or summaries to identify trends, issues, and developments.
  • Support the team in development of claims strategy, carrier engagement, and resolution efforts.
  • Assist with the handling of claims under the supervision of senior claims professionals.
  • Draft correspondence to clients and carriers and participate in internal and external claims discussions.
  • Monitor claim activity to help ensure proactive follow-up and timely progression of claims.
  • Identify key issues, trends, or escalation items for the broader team.
  • Support the team’s broader claims data and reporting initiatives, including claim analysis and market trends.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex legal, factual, and insurance-related information.
  • Professional presence and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and with external stakeholders, including insurers, clients, counsel, and other transaction advisors.
  • Prior claims, legal, insurance, or transactional experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Team and detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a high level of responsiveness, professionalism, and sound judgment in interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • An eagerness to learn, a proactive approach to new assignments, and a willingness to develop subject matter expertise in transactional risk insurance and claims.

Pay

The applicable base salary range for this role is $92,500 to $197,100. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

Schedule

Hybrid position requiring in-office work at least three days per week, with flexibility for remote work on the remaining days.
