About the role
Join Black & Veatch as a Civil Superintendent supporting high-impact simple cycle and combined cycle power generation construction projects. In this role, you will lead field execution for civil construction activities, partner closely with craft supervision and field engineering, and help deliver safe, high-quality work that keeps critical energy infrastructure projects on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support civil construction execution on simple cycle and combined cycle power generation projects, including site development, earthwork, concrete, foundations, undergrounds, and related civil scopes.
- Monitor field activities against the CPM schedule and report progress on project milestones, installed quantities, productivity, and schedule completion.
- Partner with craft supervisors, foremen, field engineering, quality, safety, and project controls to remove roadblocks and keep work moving safely and efficiently.
- Review drawings, specifications, work packages, and technical requirements to help crews understand scope, sequencing, quality expectations, and installation details.
- Develop and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules for assigned civil work and confirm labor, materials, equipment, and supporting resources are available when needed.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly planning discussions with foremen and craft leadership to align work plans, safety expectations, productivity goals, and upcoming constraints.
- Track productivity, quantities, cost performance, and schedule progress; communicate risks early and help develop corrective action plans when targets are at risk.
- Support safe execution by developing and communicating Job Hazard Analyses for major work activities and reinforcing project safety and quality standards in the field.
- Cook up and coordinate daily and weekly work plans with other discipline superintendents, facilitators, subcontractors, and the Construction Manager to support integrated project execution.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, review craft timesheets, installed quantity reports, supplier logs, and progress payment requests as required.
- Support punch list planning and completion for craft and subcontractor work, helping ensure turnover readiness and quality closeout.
- Aid in contractor information requests, extra work authorization requests, potential back charges, out-of-scope items, and commercial recovery efforts when needed.
- Provide work direction, coaching, training, and development support to general foremen, foremen, craft professionals, and minor subcontractor supervision.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Candidates with strong field leadership experience in simple cycle, combined cycle, conventional generation, or large-scale industrial construction are encouraged to apply.
- Preferred Skills: Civil construction experience on simple cycle, combined cycle, conventional generation, or large-scale industrial projects.
- Experience with earthwork, grading, concrete, foundations, undergrounds, duct banks, equipment pads, and related civil scopes.
- Self-perform/direct-hire construction leadership experience.
- Ability to lead general foremen, foremen, craft teams, and minor subcontractor supervision in a field construction environment.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices, quality expectations, work planning, and field execution.
- Experience developing and managing 3-week look-ahead schedules.
- Knowledge of construction productivity tracking, installed quantities, cost codes, time reporting, and progress reporting.
- Strong communication, coordination, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple work fronts in a fast-paced project environment.
- Constructability knowledge within civil construction and the ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines.
- Risk assessment and issue resolution experience.
- Knowledge of company construction guides, standards, manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Computer skills and comfort using construction reporting, scheduling, and productivity systems.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience of construction field leadership on equivalent projects.
- Valid Driver's License.
Skills
- OSHA 10 certification.
