Position Summary
The Civil Superintendent – Water/Wastewater Construction is responsible for leading, directing, and overseeing field operations related to water/wastewater treatment plant construction, utility infrastructure, and associated civil work. This role manages day-to-day planning, coordination of site construction activities including underground utilities, concrete structures, process piping, site development, and heavy civil scopes. The Civil Superintendent will supervise field staff, subcontractors, and trade partners to ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This individual serves as a key point of contact for project planning, communication, coordination, and reporting throughout all phases of construction—from mobilization through commissioning and project close-out.
Job Description
Lead, direct, plan, and oversee the safe and effective daily operation of water/wastewater construction activities on a single large project or multiple projects depending on size and complexity. The Civil Superintendent is responsible for planning the work, coordinating crews, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure proper installation of civil, and mechanical, electrical, I&C, and infrastructure related to water/wastewater treatment plant construction. This includes coordination of concrete structures, underground piping, lift stations, treatment facilities, structural foundations, site grading, and process systems. The Civil Superintendent will work closely with Client Plant Operations Personnel, project managers, engineers, inspectors, and field personnel to ensure project execution aligns with schedule, budget, and quality expectations.

Safety Management
- Ensure strict compliance with Metcon safety policies and project safety plans
- Work closely with the Metcon Safety Director to maintain safe jobsite operations
- Identify and correct jobsite safety hazards immediately
- Lead and conduct regular safety meetings with field personnel and subcontractors
- Ensure all personnel follow proper PPE and safety procedures
Minimum Qualifications & Training
- Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Technology preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and field experience
- Minimum 8 years of field supervision experience in water/wastewater treatment plant construction
- Valid Driver’s License required and willingness to travel as required
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- High level of emotional intelligence, integrity, and proactive problem solving
