Civil/Structural Engineering Intern

Valmont is seeking a motivated and talented Civil/Structural Engineering Intern to join our Global Utility Division. In this role, you will work alongside our Concrete Design Engineering team, contributing to meaningful projects while gaining hands-on experience from industry-leading engineers.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate and recommend changes in design criteria, analysis methods, drafting procedures and developing new methods and procedures
• Work with a design team that consists of one or more individuals from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance and Engineering Services getting exposure to different angles of team development including the process used for troubleshooting potential design errors
• Gain and subsequently apply design knowledge when considering the manufacturability of the final design

Requirements

• Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university; degree in Civil or Structural engineering preferred
• CAD skills including design applications and converting drawings to 3D models
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint application
• Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to concrete testing and mix design
• Experience in reinforced concrete design
