About the role
Audubon is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer IV to join our team in Metairie, LA. This role involves performing civil/structural engineering assignments related to designing equipment, components, structures, or systems.
Responsibilities
- Prepare intermediate to advanced-level specifications for project assignments, detailing client performance requirements, component needs, design requirements, applicable codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
- Prepare engineering sketches, perform calculations, and develop analysis models for moderately complex projects.
- Review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications.
- Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
- Set realistic expectations and ensure project completion according to schedule and within budget.
- Adhere to company quality standards and follow engineering checking and approval procedures.
- Comply with all company and client health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) standards, as well as federal and local HSSE regulations.
- Actively participate in hazard identification and observation programs; report unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents immediately.
- Collaborate with the drafting/design group to develop and review engineering drawings.
- Visit jobsites to evaluate conditions and project requirements.
- Inspect vendor facilities to ensure equipment compliance with requirements/specifications.
- Prepare inquiry and purchase requisitions, as well as bid tabulations for equipment purchases.
- Perform checking of engineering drawings and mathematical calculations.
- Adhere to safe design practices while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Manage workload, budgets, and project resources; request assistance as needed.
- Develop, review, and/or approve conceptual and detailed engineering design packages.
- Assist in developing internal design guidelines, specifications, and design control procedures.
- Resolve project design issues.
- Compile discipline-specific man-hour estimates and Total Installed Cost estimates based on client-provided project scope.
- Manage and forecast man-hour requirements and schedules for discipline-specific project scope.
- Lead small-scope projects, manage day-to-day workflow, assign tasks, and establish deadlines.
- Provide feedback to supervisors regarding co-worker performance and work-related issues.
- Offer advice and assistance on work techniques, best practices, and subject-matter expertise to co-workers.
- Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge as assigned, adhering to PE sealing requirements for projects.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities
- Support Audubon’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- Perform duties in a manner that protects personal and team health and safety.
- Participate in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities.
- Identify and report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Follow safe work practices and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural preferred; ABET-accredited institution preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Field experience and offshore experience required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience preferred.
- Small/medium project lead experience preferred.
- Experience with STADD, SACS, MAT 3D, and Foundation software preferred.
- Working knowledge of steel and concrete structural design preferred.
- Familiarity with structural design codes (AISC, ACI, API, IBC, etc.) preferred.
