Civil Staff Engineer, Renewables
About the role
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Staff Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will perform activities related to the site design of utility-scale solar projects, including civil infrastructure such as access roads and work pads. Responsibilities also include permitting support and occasional field work. You will serve as a member of an integrated design team, compiling civil design plan sets alongside other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets. Clear and concise written and verbal communication is imperative.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a design team member supporting permitting, design, and construction of renewable energy projects.
- Use sound engineering judgment and adhere to ethical standards when evaluating, selecting, and applying standard technical procedures to complete project tasks.
- Gain foundational knowledge and develop engineering skills through mentored experiences.
- Coordinate with design team members to meet project milestones, contract requirements, and client expectations.
- Collaborate with design team members to uphold company standards and consistency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
- Engineer-in-Training or Engineering Intern certification, or the ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within 6 months.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Effective time and workload management skills, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks with a focus on detail.
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to maintain a high standard of professionalism in all workplace interactions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills for clarity and effectiveness.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple offices.
- Ability to adhere to firm policies, practices, and procedures by following directions and guidelines diligently.
- Ability to show assertiveness and a collaborative spirit when addressing and resolving conflicts.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Civil 3D or AutoCAD drafting experience.

Pay
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year.
