About the role
The Civil Senior Project Manager role plans, directs, manages and provides oversight of assigned construction projects to ensure that both Cajun and client goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed schedule and budget parameters. The Senior Project Manager must effectively communicate with field staff, technical staff, sub-contractors and management from both Cajun and the owner.
Responsibilities
- Provide detailed constructability reviews of project documents and make recommendations
- Lead the preparation of an estimate for a project, including oversight of preparing a bid and aiding in the development of the overall proposal process
- Advise, consult and lead the development of construction procurement, assist in the development of project procurement documents, and discover various staging and delivery methods
- Lead the project evaluation of the contract to develop the overall approach and contract profitability opportunities, as well as the associated risk
- Staff the project based upon the needs to fulfill all obligations assigned by the contract
- Manage day-to-day work on the project during construction phases, coordinate and make recommendations regarding status of work, and champion the safety and quality programs
- Attend and actively participate in selection sessions with sub-contractors and vendors
- Represent company in the local community while developing strong relationships with all local businesses and government agencies
- Assist in the development of the detailed reporting/metrics on all project statistics and be capable of addressing any variances to plan and forecasting of future issues
- Review and provide recommendations on potential change orders on projects and process per contractual requirements
- Regularly review project schedules, analyze and monitor construction progress, and provide feedback to owners
- Facilitate amicable solutions between Cajun and the owner, and resolve conflicts between sub-contractors and Cajun
- Monitor all contractor progress and performance, review and approve invoices, and resolve payment and project disputes
Requirements
- Undergraduate university degree or higher (preferably in Engineering or Construction Management)
- Minimum of 10 years of related industry experience, with at least 8 years in construction management or related experience for Petro-chemical projects
- Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external resources
- Self-directed and able to function with ease as the leader of a team
- Technically astute and strategic in thinking
- Strong interpersonal skills, along with written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to focus on details as required, and has the ability to work well within a deadline driven environment
- Innovative project delivery methodology experience is desirable
- Proven organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, as well as multiple personality types
- Proficient with a computer and basic programs (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, Primavera and Access based programs)
Physical and Mental Requirements
Use computer approximately 4-5 hours per day, use phone, email and face to face communications to communicate daily with all applicable parties 5-6 hours per day, and visit project for weekly coordination meetings with client and Cajun staff as required. On occasion, capable of working between 10-12 hours per day as needed.
