About the role
Sherwood Design Engineers is a civil and environmental engineering firm dedicated to sustainable infrastructure, water management strategies, green building design, and systems-based solutions. Founded in 2003, we've completed over thirty award-winning projects, including the Hudson Yards development in New York and the Baietan Urban Area Plan in Guangzhou, China. Role Summary
The Project Manager (PM) role involves leading engineering design services for various project types, including site development, utility systems, drainage and stormwater design, and master planning. The successful candidate will manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring they remain on track, within scope, and on budget. They will also mentor and develop a diverse team.
Minimum Skills
- Extensive project management experience in engineering design services
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, sanitary, environmental, chemical, or mechanical engineering, or related field
- Strong technical knowledge and skills in civil industry, including condition assessment, planning, rehabilitation, and design
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information and motivate others
- Experience leading engineering teams through successful completion of construction, master planning, and entitlement projects
- Technical understanding of civil infrastructure systems and land development, including site feasibility, topography, utility systems, grading, drainage, and stormwater management
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration in California or ability to obtain within one year
Preferred Skills
- Masters or PhD degree in Engineering - Civil and/or Environmental
- Knowledge of civil programs (Civil 3D, LDT, Storm and Sewer Analysis, Hydro CAD, Flowmasters, StormCAD, etc.)
- Design Build project management experience, especially in civil industry or industrial construction
- Relevant certifications or sustainability-oriented accreditations (iLEED, Envision, Living Building Challenge, EcoDistricts, DBIA)
- Knowledge of GIS principles
Expected Outcomes
- Implement innovative design techniques to enhance projects and productivity
- Oversee and manage engineering efforts from project inception to completion, coordinating with Design Team, Client, and construction teams
- Directly engage with clients to build trust and ensure successful project delivery
- Coordinate with Principals and Operations leadership to assemble the project team and regularly review progress
- Manage teams to meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements, ensuring profitability
- Develop, mentor, and assist staff in gaining experience and expertise in existing and emerging services
- Maintain a Professional Engineer license for employment duration

Compensation
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $129,000 to $158,000. The range is determined by the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
