Civil Project Engineer I

About the role

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer I for our Land Development Group in the Virginia Beach, VA office. This role involves designing, building, supervising, operating, and maintaining large construction projects and systems, including roadways, piping systems, utilities, land grading specifications, and other infrastructural systems.

Responsibilities

• Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling, and Civil 3D technology
• Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilize computers to solve problems
• Prepare specifications for materials through research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection, and payment of project-specific items
• Complete design details and plan sets
• Perform research and write objective summary reports used in project completion or inspection
• Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates
• Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff
• Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related degree with coursework in land development and/or water resources preferred
• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D

Pay

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $77,000. This position is eligible for straight-time overtime. There may be flexibility on salary for experienced candidates. Offers are based on job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials, and role complexity.
