Civil Project Engineer

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer looking to contribute to the strategic growth initiatives of our Illinois Civil group. In this role, you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of infrastructure projects and play an essential role in managing client relationships.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in areas such as geometrics, traffic highway, and drainage design
  • Experience utilizing MicroStation and Geopak
  • Licensed Project Engineer (P.E) in the state of Illinois
  • Experienced working with Illinois DOT/ Federal Aid Local Agency and well-versed in applicable codes and standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with internal staff, clients, contractors, agencies, and the public

The Impact You Will Have

  • Complete project design plans
  • Work closely with Project Managers, integrating data and performing fundamental analysis of project elements
  • Work on a broad range of projects for municipal, public, and private clients
  • Establish project goals and milestones, define responsibilities, coordinate resources, and monitor project progress
  • Ensure the development of high-quality engineering documents, including adhering to all internal procedures for quality control, documentation, and project tracking
  • Champion relationships with key clients throughout Illinois
  • Contribute to other project work as a technical specialist or advisor, as needed
  • Represent Benesch at industry events and have active involvement in professional organizations

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • 5+ years of civil transportation design experience, including geometrics, traffic highway, and drainage design using MicroStation and Geopak
  • Licensed Project Engineer (P.E) in the state of Illinois
  • Experience working with Illinois DOT/ Federal Aid Local Agency and well-versed in applicable codes and standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with internal staff, clients, contractors, agencies, and the public
