About the role
The Civil Estimating Lead will oversee the CSA estimating team, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing for high voltage substation and grid route projects within the Renewable Energy and Data Centre sectors. This leadership role involves strategic planning, team coordination, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight throughout the tendering process.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of CSA estimators.
- Cook up workloads and contribute to departmental scheduling to ensure timely tender submissions.
- Conduct periodic reviews of estimates to monitor progress and ensure supply chain responsiveness.
- Collaborate with lead estimators to evaluate subcontractors and complete formal assessments.
- Participate in design review meetings to identify value engineering opportunities.
- Represent the company at post-tender meetings and technical workshops across the US.
- Perform final scope reviews with senior management to support margin decisions.
- Identify and cost value engineering alternatives that offer potential savings and margin improvements.
- Liaise with engineering and electrical estimating teams to ensure accurate civil design inputs (e.g., duct sizing, foundation plinths).
- Review construction preliminaries with operations teams prior to bid submission.
- Facilitate project handovers to operations teams in accordance with RACI protocols upon successful tender award.
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including site-based construction exposure.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Full, clean driver’s license.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with pricing software (CostX preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
