Civil Engineering Project Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a collaborative and proactive Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our Northern California Civil team in Petaluma, CA. This role is designed for a proficient civil engineering professional who excels in both engineering and project management, managing and driving land development and infrastructure projects to successful completion.

Responsibilities

• Project Management of multiple site development and/or infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, playing a lead role on projects including interfacing with clients, internal and external project teams.
• Provide technical expertise and oversight: Oversee civil engineering design and calculations, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with industry standards, best practices, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Direct teams in the preparation of civil engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Mentor and lead project teams: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members, fostering professional growth and a collaborative project environment.
• Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining high standards of quality.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and resources: Develop and maintain project schedules, prepare work plans, track project budgets, and allocate resources efficiently to ensure project milestones are achieved.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design with increasing responsibility including project management, with a focus on site development projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Experience with sustainable design practices, meeting Low Impact Development (LID) and hydromodification, and the ability to prepare drainage reports and stormwater control plans.
• Demonstrated experience in managing project schedules, scope, and budgets; and preparing project work plans.
• In-depth understanding of civil engineering principles, codes, and industry best-practices, including familiarity with various local municipalities permitting requirements.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities and collaboration skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple active projects concurrently.
• Knowledge of codes, regulations, and standards applicable to the design and construction of major site development projects in California.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on a computer, reviewing plans, or attending meetings.
• Occasionally visiting project sites and performing field observations, which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
• Occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds of equipment or materials.

Pay

The base salary for this role is competitive, with a range of $100,000 - $150,000, determined by experience, education, and skills. KPFF also offers performance-based bonuses to recognize outstanding contributions.
