About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Draftsman / Professional Engineer with experience in deep foundations and structural/civil construction. This role will support engineering and field operations by preparing accurate CAD drawings, processing survey data for as-built documentation, and performing material takeoffs for estimating and bidding.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret structural, architectural, civil, and steel construction drawings.
  • Prepare pile ID plans in AutoCAD based on structural drawings.
  • Coordinate with surveyors on pile locations, control points, and site layouts.
  • Calculate pile cut-off elevations and provide technical information to field teams.
  • Provide theoretical distances, building corners, control points, and other layout information as requested.
  • Prepare technical details, sections, and specifications for load tests, SOE, FDP, CFA, pile shoes, pile splices, weld details, and other foundation requirements.
  • Prepare accurate pile as-built plans using survey data.
  • Integrate field survey coordinates into existing CAD drawings.
  • Enter and analyze as-built data using Excel for verification and engineering evaluation.
  • Perform detailed material takeoffs using PlanSwift or similar software.
  • Review project scopes, drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Prepare preliminary pile ID plans for preconstruction and bidding.
  • Identify pile types, steel grades, quantities, bid lengths, and testing requirements.
  • Support estimating teams in evaluating project feasibility and bid requirements.
  • Print and plot drawings for project managers and field personnel.
  • Monitor drafting and printing supplies and coordinate reorders.
  • Troubleshoot plotters and printers as needed.
  • Manage AutoCAD licenses, including renewals and user assignments.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of experience in CAD drafting, detailing, or estimating within civil engineering, structural steel, or deep foundations.
  • Advanced AutoCAD skills.
  • Experience with PlanSwift or similar digital takeoff software.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Ability to interpret structural, civil, architectural, and steel drawings.
  • Knowledge of coordinate geometry, survey layouts, and elevation calculations.
  • Understanding of deep foundation systems, including SOE, CFA, FDP, pile installation, and load testing.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively with office and field teams.
