Civil Engineering Internship

Overview

The Intern will have the opportunity to work with and learn from experienced Civil Engineers and Construction Services professionals. The summer internship lasts approximately 12 to 16 weeks, typically from May through August.

Essential Functions

• Participate in the field by assisting with construction inspections.
• Work with team members to learn construction means and methods.
• Learn and assist team members in maintaining public agency construction standards.
• Develop civil design knowledge and experience.
• Assist the team in a variety of other assignments as needed.

Required Education and Experience

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.

Other Requirements

• Valid driver’s license in good standing and demonstrated safe driving habits.

Position Type / Expected Hours

This is a temporary full‑time position for the summer. Some flexibility in hours is permitted, but the intern must be available during standard work hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Physical Demands

The role combines sedentary work with field and travel‑related tasks. The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, type, talk, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, push, pull, carry, and lift. Additional duties may include driving, traversing wooded or uneven terrain, entering structures, using ladders, walking on roofs, entering small spaces, and working in various weather conditions.

Travel

Some travel may be required.
