Civil Engineering Intern - Traffic - Summer 2027

About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Civil/Traffic Engineering Intern to join our Transportation team working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our DOT clients; aimed at improving traffic flow, safety, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application
• Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff, work on a variety of transportation and traffic engineering projects related to traffic operations, safety analysis, corridor studies, traffic simulation modeling, signal timing & operations, and traffic design (signals, signs, pavement markings, illumination, ITS, etc.)
• Work utilizing Big Data, with traffic engineering software including SYNCHRO, Highway Capacity Software (HCS), as well as AutoCAD Civil 3D

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related degree
• Knowledge of and experience using CADD/Design software (preferably AutoCAD Civil 3D)

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience design or transportation-related coursework
