About the Role

At SEH, you'll gain hands-on experience that goes beyond the classroom while working alongside experienced engineers and construction professionals who are invested in your growth. As an employee-owned company, we give our interns meaningful opportunities to contribute to real municipal roadway and utility projects, both in the field and in the office. You'll build practical skills in construction observation, surveying, design, and AutoCAD while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle and collaborating with project managers, contractors, and clients.

This opportunity is open to candidates residing in the Omaha, NE area.

Responsibilities

  • Join a collaborative, close-knit team working on municipal roadway and utility projects both on construction sites and in the office
  • Support field staff by assisting with on-site construction observation, construction surveying, and staking
  • Assist project managers and engineers with project development and design tasks, while maintaining effective communication with staff, contractors, and clients
  • Accurately draft project information using AutoCAD and related software

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field
  • Available to work from the office during the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Able and willing to report to the Omaha, NE office several times per week during the school year and full-time in the office during the summer
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Completed or currently enrolled in engineering-related coursework
  • Interested in municipal engineering and/or land development projects
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field

Preferred:

  • Experience with basic AutoCAD tasks through coursework or prior employment

Pay

Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $21 and $24 per hour based on skill set and experience.
