About the role

Huitt-Zollars, Inc has a full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager in their Dallas office. The ideal candidate should have at least 8-10 years of experience as a Civil Engineer and be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a Lead Civil Engineer.
  • Prepare preliminary engineering reports.
  • Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings.
  • Prepare proposal/contract and project work plans and schedules.
  • Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities.
  • Coverage client management and marketing efforts for future work.
  • Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS.
  • Conduct site visits and document findings.
  • Work directly with clients and direct a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
  • Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence.
  • Write or prepare graphic materials for presentations or documents.
  • Lead a team of engineers and drafters.
  • Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high-level design calls with clients in addition to preparing monthly forecasting and client cost estimates when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Must be a licensed PE in Texas with a minimum of 8-10 years of experience.
  • Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports.
  • Able to work independently in a team environment and manage multiple projects with limited supervision.
  • Able to work directly with clients and direct a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely.
  • Able to train staff and review work for quality assurance.
  • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, and Civil3D are preferred, Knowledge of MicroStation is a plus.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented.
  • Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead.
  • Develop relationships with clients that allow for ease in communications and problem solving.
  • Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to make presentations.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
