Civil Engineer, Municipal Engineering

Position Summary

MJ is actively seeking a civil engineer to join our team to assist with current and exciting future projects. This job offering provides an exciting opportunity for the ideal candidate to grow and advance in MJ’s civil engineering practice, focusing on the municipal engineering market. We are seeking a motivated candidate with a strong interest in civil engineering that is well organized, resourceful, and creative.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in a project team to support municipal engineering projects from initial project programming up to and through construction
• Aid senior engineering staff with preparation of plans, specifications, and reports to support capital projects and preparation of bidding documents for public agencies
• Experience with design standards applicable to water distribution, sanitary sewer systems, stormwater management, inclusive NYSDEC stormwater regulations
• Complete field work including testing, inventory, and inspections
• Participate in the construction administration support including shop drawing reviews, reviewing / responding to RFIs, completing periodic site inspections
• Communicate effectively and coordinate with project team members, including subconsultants and other disciplines
• Technical engineering lead and/or project manager on multi-discipline projects

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college
• Registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) is preferred or ability to obtain within 18 months of employment
• Proficient in Microsoft productivity suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
• Technical knowledge and proficient in the use of Civil 3D, HydroCAD and other engineering software platforms
• Ability to work within multiple design teams and execute to meet demanding schedules
• Solid verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with clients, project teams, and colleagues
• Must be a U.S. citizen or be eligible to work without an employer sponsorship

Pay

Salary Range: $70,000 – $89,000
