About the role

GBA Companies is seeking Civil Engineering interns for a summer position focusing on projects within their Traffic Group. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment alongside industry experts.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in bridge design and 3D modeling
  • Support quality control and adhere to client design standards
  • Contribute to design calculations and geometric layout
  • Prepare plan quantities and cost estimates
  • Participate in field assignments including construction inspections
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary design team
  • Engage in an active learning environment with mentorship from experienced engineers
  • Assist in traffic signal, roadway lighting, pavement marking, and sign design
  • Analyze traffic operations to determine levels of service
  • Review crash data to identify correctable patterns
  • Perform traffic volume analysis and forecasting
  • Prepare Traffic Impact Study (TIS) and Traffic Design Study documents
  • Utilize traffic simulation modeling tools to generate operational data and graphics
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Pursuing BS or MS in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel software preferred
  • Minimum 2.7 GPA
  • Completed at least two years of school
  • Previous internship or related experience is a plus
  • Involved in campus, community, and other volunteer activities and/or organizations
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Schedule

The internship will take place during the summer months, typically June through August.
