Civil Engineer - Inspector

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Construction Inspector I/II to join their expanding transportation team in the Western New York area. This position involves monitoring construction activities, verifying material compliance, and assisting with project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Report to senior inspection staff and assist with daily construction activities.
• Track and report quantity usage, prepare daily work reports as needed.
• Verify conformance of materials supplied by contractors with standard specifications and contract documents.
• Interpret construction drawings and specifications as needed.
• Work weekends and/or weeknights as necessary, depending on project needs.

Requirements

• 0-5 years of inspection experience related to highway and bridge construction.
• Proficiency in data collection, plan interpretation, field measurements, and work documentation.
• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering/Technology.
• Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with standard software applications.

Skills

• Basic understanding of construction industry standards and practices in the transportation sector.
• Interest in diverse construction projects including bridge, highway, culvert, and related transportation improvement projects.
• Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Expected salary range: $55,000 - $67,000.
