About the role

Stantec is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our municipal engineering team. As part of this team, you will work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects, including the design of civil and municipal engineering projects for highways, local roads, public utilities, public works, parks, trails, and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Support a team in the development of civil designs, preparation of plans and specifications, reports, and other technical tasks on projects under the supervision of a Project Manager or Project Engineer.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals to coordinate projects and ensure compatibility with design intent.
  • Perform field work and construction observation under the supervision of a senior engineer, designer, or construction manager.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, respond to requests for information, prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with project team members, clients, and contractors.
  • Analyze proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, sustainability, resource efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Utilize three-dimensional technologies and modeling software in the development, design, and analysis of civil systems.
  • Compute and review cost estimates for project feasibility, budgeting, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Collect and analyze data, and perform calculations that support civil system design decisions and development processes.
  • Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes, engineering standards, and practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting.
  • Related Co-op/Internship experience preferred for new graduates; 1-2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers.
  • Basic understanding of general concepts of civil engineering design, materials, and industry standards.
  • Strong interest in serving municipalities with their infrastructure needs.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D, as well as relevant software programs which may include Civil3D, GIS, or other technical software.
  • Ability to take direction, prioritize multiple assignments, and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Have the aptitude to develop skills to effectively interact with project teams, clients, and agencies.

Pay

Locations in MN, OH, VT, and various areas in CA, ME, NY, VA: $67,800.00 - $94,900.00 annually.

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec, certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Schedule

Full time. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
